**Thursday, April 2, 7:00 p.m. - Senator Chris Steineger will be at Emporia State University in the Kanza Room. He likely will be discussing two primary agenda points:

1. Fiscal Conservatism and Environmental Conservation as two ideas that have a similar base message of sustainable living.

2. He may be up for a discussion of County Unification and Consolidation if time allows

Questions about anything regarding the state legislature [the budget,  Holcomb, etc.] would of course be welcome.
Steineger is from Wyandotte County and earlier this session suggested (but did not introduce legislation) that the state could save money if some of the 105 counties were to combine. Pretty controversial stuff.

** Sunday July 19th - 5:30 pm - Lyon County Democratic Party Picnic at the Emporia Arts Council Bldg. on 618 Mechanic in Emporia. Dennis McKinney - Kansas State Treasurer will be the featured speaker. Remember this is our biggest fund raising event and if you want to be a picnic sponsor, please send a check of $75.00 or more. Make it out to the Lyon County Democratic Party and send c/0 of Bill Ballard - Treas. at 1020 Watson St., Emporia, KS 66801 any size donation will be accepted and a donation basket will be at the door. We will also have a sign up sheet for the Fair booth.
